On August 14th EBC experienced another tough tournament at Dorena with only 6 fish brought to the scales. Jerry Lake and Dave Mitchel won with 2 fish for 10.31 lbs; Jerry also had big fish with a nice 6.18 lb fish. Our next tournament is at Newburg on September 18th. EBC held a Friday Night Bites tournament at Cottage Grove Lake on 8/27/10. The bite was a little slow compared to past years but Roger Emmert and Pete Olsen weighed in 4 fish for 15 lbs. Roger also had big fish with a chunky 5.99.
The EBCer hit tenmile lake saturday afternoon at 6pm fishing til midnight on south lake. They weighed there catch and fished from 1am to 8am up in north lake. The split lake format seemed to go well and broke up the night nicely. Some slept during the night others grinded away in complete darkness......Fished came off a variety of colors and bait selection. Everyone made it back safely and on time except for Steven Starvos who was found float around in the middle of north lake at 6am. Overall good tournament and we'll see you at Dorena!!
THE EMERALD BASS CLUB COTTAGE GROVE CLUB TOURNAMENT WAS HELD ON SATURDAY, JUNE 19th. THE BITE WAS OFF FROM RECENT PRACTICE RESULTS BUT SEVERAL NICE BAGS WERE WEIGHED IN. THE FIRST PLACE TEAM OF DAVE FUSKIE & DON McMILLAN HAD A BIG BAG THAT WEIGHED 15.44 POUNDS. SECOND PLACE WENT TO ANDY & DAVE MITCHELL – 15.15 POUNDS. IN THIRD PLACE WAS PAST U of O BASS TEAM PRESIDENT CHRIS PARKS & CARY COOPER. BIG FISH OF THE EVENT WENT TO CLUB PRESIDENT RON HANSEN AT 3.53 POUNDS. MOST ANGLERS BROUGHT IN STORIES OF BIG FISH LOST IN THE THICK VEGITATION. MARK WILSON LOST A HAWG AT THE BOAT WHEN THE RUSTY HOOK ON HIS 40 YEAR OLD JOHNSON SILVER MINNOW SNAPPED OFF.
THE BASS TEAMS FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF OREGON AND OREGON STATE MET FOR THE THIRD TIME AT FERN RIDGE LAKE NEAR EUGENE ON SUNDAY, MAY 16th. The quirky bite was on and off all day. The Ducks came out on top with 40 plus pounds to the Beavers 30 plus pounds to claim this years JAY YELAS CUP AWARD. Several 4 to 6 pound class bass were weighed in. Local media was on hand to record the event. Each team fielded seven boats. The Emerald Bass Club and club members from Northern Oregon provided boats and assistance to make this a great event.
1010 FERN RIDGE OPEN. APRIL 24th. The team of Chaves & Gilbert came to the scales with 20.40 pounds including a 5.15 kicker. Second place Stravos & VanMeter had 19.11 pound with only 4 fish. They also had the tourney big fish of 6.53 pounds. Third place went to Yeack & Brown. Their weight of 14.12 was anchored by a 4.73 pounder.
Fern Ridge offered 48 degree water at blast off for an 8 boat field looking for a limit. As the EBCer battled morning wind and cold temperatures only 5 fish were caught by the 8 boats on this chilly spring day. Those fish were dandies though, Matt Wilson had BF of 6.93 giving him a second place finish. Chris Parks and Cary Cooper managed 2 fish throughout the day give them a total weight of 10.50 and a 1st place finish. Congratulation to all the anglers who caught fish at this event! Eight boats showed up for the EBC opener on beautiful Tenmile lake. The lake had 2 other clubs fishing the same day which made for a busy boat ramp in the morning. FIRST PLACE FINISHERS -- Chris Parks and Rob Ross weighed in an impressive 24 plus pound bag with a seven pound kicker. All fished brought to the scales seemed to be healthy and the average fish size was up from years past. Fish seemed to be caught on many different patterns on this day.
